Dalle Chyoyo (1918) directed by Dara Singh, is the first Dogri movie that released in India, known as Pahari Cinema (Western Pahari Cinema) when it released in 1921. It was the first movie to be made in Dogri language in India.
Dalli Da Lalu, is a Hindi/Punjabi film directed by Narain Bedi, released in 1974 under the banner of “Lalchand Manga Janjanna”, written by Gurbacharan Singh.[17]Dalli Da Lalu won the National Film Award for Best Film With Popular Appeal and Aesthetic Value. It became the first ever Dogri film to win in this category of the National Film Awards.
Main re – Theatrical release of the movie was held in the year 1988 under the banner “Rang Pritam” in the Chanva Cinema, Jammu in association with Directorate of Film Festivals, India. The movie become a blockbuster hit and was successful.
Pahalwa Da Luv, is a Hindi movie directed by Dara Singh, released in 1964. It was translated into the Dogri language and heavily promoted to increase the fame of the Dogri language movies in India.
The movie was restricted due to Indian ban on Pakistani actors performing in India. The movie was therefore promoted by federal government of India in the Dogri language, where the movie was released in the year 1966, with the sole purpose to sell the film.
