Description

Suståne 4-6-4 All Natural Fertilizer promotes a rapid rate of vegetative establishment. Quick ground cover minimizes soil erosion and the need for repairs or re-seeding. Suståne replenishes the soil with a rich supply of humus (stabilized organic matter) and all of the essential nutrients required for quality growth. Suståne 4-6-4 All Natural provides a combination of plant nutrients and organic substances derived from biologically stable compost plus natural potash and feathermeal.

Suståne 4-6-4 is allowed for use on the production of organic fruits and vegetables.


Recommended Use:

This product is recommended for use on vegetables, fruits, flowers and landscape beds, tree and shrub establishment, in potting soil mixes and for use as a turfgrass starter fertilizer.

General Product Application Rates and Methods:

New Garden Bed Preparation: Apply 1 cup of Suståne for every 10 ft2. of bed space or 3 lbs. per 100 ft2. (126 grams per m2). Incorporate into the top 4” (10 cm) of soil.

Vegetable Row Crops: Apply 1 cup of Suståne for every 10 ft of row space (45 grams per m).

Transplants and Established Plants: Apply ¼ cup of Suståne into the hole prior to planting transplants or around the base of the plant for established plants (34 grams per plant).

Soil Mixes & Potted Plants: Incorporate Suståne into the potting mix at a rate of 2 cups per cubic foot of mix (12 grams / cubic liter).

Trees and Shrubs: Apply ¼ cup of Suståne for plants with a 2-ft. canopy. Increase rates by ¼ cup for every additional 6” of canopy spread (112 grams for 1 meter canopy). Apply at planting for establishment or in the spring and fall for established trees and shrubs.

Turfgrass Establishment: Broadcast 16.6 lbs for every 1,000 ft2 prior to planting (8 grams per m2). Incorporate into the top 4” (10 cm) of soil.

Incorporating into Potting Soil Mixes and other Container Substrates:

Sustane 4-6-4-plant-food provides constant release of nutrients when used with container substrates with average temperature of 70oF / 21oC. When determining application rates consider all cultural practices including irrigation, container substrate physical characteristics and growing environment.

Low Rate: Recommended for use on salt sensitive species; when concurrent with liquid feed with production systems utilizing low leaching fractions (less than 10%) and when applied to heavy potting substrates (total porosity less than 65%).

  • These rates are intended as guidelines. Suståne encourages a trial prior to changing any fertilizer program.
  • Do not steam sterilize container mix after fertilizer has been incorporated.
  • Do not store container mix more than two weeks after incorporating fertilizer. Plant material can be damaged from salt accumulation.
  • Monitor electrical conductivity (EC) of container substrate throughout production cycle.
  • If mix is stored longer than two weeks, leaching container mix may be required to remove accumulated salts
  • Adjust application rate as needed.
